Glasgow: Scottish Temperance League. 1858. Original limp brown cloth gilt lettered. pp (8), (152), 16, ads. Some spotting and sunning to the covers; Feb., 1858, ink presentation inscription at front; text paper lightly toned with scattered small soil spots; page edges tanned; good to VG generally. "Sixth thousand", same year as first. Miller was a distinguished surgeon and staunch temperance advocate. He was Professor of Surgery at the University of Edinburgh. His textbook Principles of Surgery was well regarded in the 19th century. ; 16mo .

Good+. 11 Cms x 15 Cms. 151+16 (Temperance League list). slight splitting bottom half internal hinge facing t.p., sm.brown spot on t.p., otherwise internally clean and unworn, covers a little faded but clean, cloth split along hinges at bottom sp. (4 cms fr., 1 cm. back). An early issue of this standard Temperance movement text, later usually published with author's tract on tobacco.
