Alexander's Bridge by Cather, Willa Sibert - 1912

Second state, duodecimo size, 184 pp. Willa Cather (1873-1947) is known for her novels of frontier life in the American Midwest, and her portrayal of humanity as something deep and sympathetic, found in the landscapes as well as the people of her books. She was much acclaimed during her lifetime, and won the Pulitzer Prize for the Novel (later the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction) in 1923 for "One of Ours". "Alexander's Bridge" is Cather's debut novel, first serialised in "McClure's" magazine, receiving much acclaim at the time of its publication. This volume is the first edition, second state, with the half-title page on page iii. ___DESCRIPTION: Full brown cloth, gilt ruled borders and lettering on the front board, gilt lettering on the spine, title page with printer's device in black; duodecimo size (7.5" by 5"), pagination: [i-iv] 1-174 [175-180].
