The Alhambra is a collection of essays, verbal sketches, and stories by Washington Irving. The collection was inspired by Irving's stay during the spring and summer of 1829 at the ancient Moorish palace in Granada, Spain, which he called "one of the most remarkable, romantic, and delicious spots in the world." The pieces in The Alhambra contain Spanish and Moorish history and folklore as well as Irving's personal experiences with the local residents.  Read more: Identifying first editions of THE ALHAMBRA: With an Introduction by Elizabeth Robert Pennell Illustrated with Drawings of the Places Mentioned by Joseph Pennell.
