Humphrey Milford. Oxford University press. London. 1928. Complete set of 16 reading cards, (11.x 8 inches) each illustrated with a mounted full colour plate by Alfred Edward Jackson. An abridged version of the book, with the text printed next to each illustration, each card also has 3 or 4 reading exercises printed on the back. The first card has a small crease to the bottom left corner, well away from the colour plate, and another has a 1 inch closed tear, without loss, to the margin, otherwise the cards are in very good condition indeed. Housed in the original publisher's envelope, with title and publisher details printed in black to the front. The envelope is rubbed and creased to the corners but has kept the cards in very good condition. A scarce survivor. Undated but the British Library gives a date of 1928. -- The First printing of the A E Jackson illustrated edition was October 1915.
