RACKHAM, Arthur. 1st Trade Edition, 1st Printing with Rip Van Winkle advert to the front and an advert for 'The Children and The Pictures' by Pamela Tennant. 15.5 x 21cm, green cloth with green stamped titles to the front and spine, gilt stamped vignette of the Griffin and the Mock Turtle to the front and dark green publisher's device to the rear. Top edge green, pictorial green and white endpapers with Rackham '07 in the bottom left hand corner. xi[i] 161[3]pp, 12 coloured illustrations with captioned tissue-guards, and 14 black and white illustrations by Arthur Rackham. The boards are lightly rubbed on the corners with sunning to the spine which extends 3cm on to the front and back panel and also on the top and bottom of both panels. There is a touch of pushing and rubbing to the spine tips and corners (notably the top corner of the front panel) with a 0.3 cm hole in the cloth on the top and bottom rear joints. There is also a 3cm diameter drip mark to the front board. Internally there is spotting to the endpapers and occasionally throughout, mainly, but not exclusively, on the edge of the text block. There are two pages with corner creases to the margin. All plates and captioned tissue-guards are present and in excellent condition. In all a very presentable first edition copy.
