Each volume with red morocco title label, decorated and lettered in gilt. Some rubbing and chipping to most volumes and a few hinges cracked but all still holding. Overall an attractive set of eighteenth century bindings. Previous owners bookplate on front paste downs.

This the illustrated edition. Dated 1886 on the copyright page of each volume. Text is a little toned but generally clean. A few award cards from the early 20th century have been placed loosely within a couple of the volumes. An exceptional set with great shelf appeal.

Binding is rubbed and bumped with some scuffing on the boards. Hinges are secure. All edges marbled. Several pencil markings as well as a small library ink stamp on the title page. A piece of paper was laid between the title page and the Preface page, resulting in heavy browning on the Preface. The browning also affect the title page and a few pages after. The text is toned with occasional foxing. Text is in French. The title translates to "Of the Colonies and Particularly that of Saint-Domingue; Historical and Political Memory."
