Very Good in Good- DJ: The Book shows indications of careful use: light wear to extremities, but heavier at the bottom edge near the corners where the fabric is beginning to wear through to the underlying boards; mild rubbing to the upper front panel; former owner's tasteful, but personalized bookplate at the front pastedown endpaper; the expected light tanning to the text pages, due to aging; the binding remains square and secure; the text is clean. A carefully preserved copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing moderate wear and minor unobtrusive cosmetic imperfections. The DJ shows fairly heavy wear; some loss to chipping and rubbing at extremities; faint soiling to the white background field of the rear panel; a small scuff (sticker removal?) at the upper corner of the front panel; a couple of short tape-repairs - or reinforcements; the front panel movie still of Bette Davis is well-preserved; price clipped; mylar-protected. "All This, and Heaven Too" is a 1940 American drama film made by Warner Bros.- First National Pictures, produced and directed by Anatole Litvak with Hal B. Wallis as executive producer. The screenplay was adapted by Casey Robinson from the 1938 novel by Rachel Field. The music was by Max Steiner and the cinematography by Ernie Haller. The film stars Bette Davis and Charles Boyer. Rachel Field's novel is based on the true story of Field's great-aunt, Henriette Deluzy-Desportes, a French governess who fell in love with the Duc de Praslin, her employer. When Praslin's wife was murdered, Henriette was implicated. It was a real-life scandal that contributed to the political turmoil before the French Revolution of 1848 which deposed France's Louis Philippe I. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.
