Binding is shaken and split in 2, contents are tanned, foxed and partially dampstained, text is complete. It is said that the name "Uncle Sam" originated as result of Anderson's claim. Anderson sold meat to the US Army, which came from a meatpacker named Samuel Wilson. The meat was stamped EAUS (Elbert Anderson United States). The soldiers joked that the initials stood for Elbert Anderson and Uncle Sam. A very scarce book.
