1862 1ed SLAVE Census DATA Indians Confederacy Civil War Steel Industry
The 'Preliminary Report on the Eighth Census' is the last census report to show slavery data. Interestingly, since the preceding Census of the U.S. (1850) added every member of the household including women, children and slaves, Kennedy added also American Indians if they had renounced tribal rules. Particularly are the government discussions on disabilities of blindness, idiocy, and the major diseases at the time.

This 1862 edition of Kennedy's census report includes topics such as:
·
Growth of New York with an added population of 783,000 to Virginia where the population had gone down by 17% for the white population (and 3.88% of the slave population)
·
Indian slavery
·
Manumission
·
Fugitive slaves
·
Mortality rates and notes the rates of both whites and slaves
·
Various disabilities including the deaf and dumb as well as the blind

1853 Israel Putnam American Revolutionary War David Humphreys Bio Illustrated

'Life and Heroic Exploits of Israel Putnam' is
David Humphreys' celebrated and lasting biography of Revolutionary War General Israel Putnam. A useful source of firsthand anecdotes regarding Putnam's wartime exploits. Humphreys "had a natural talent for military science, and there are few more intelligent contemporary pictures of certain important campaigns, notably the battle of Long Island and the retreat from Harlem, than those contained in his [essay on the life of Putnam]. In this he wrote as he fought, coolly and vigorously, and the book remains a testimonial to Putnam, to the effort and sacrifice of those stirring days, and to Humphreys' own victorious good sense" (DAB).

This 1853 edition includes black and white illustrations.

1899 Famous Violinists Classical VIOLIN MUSIC Paganini Mozart Handel Haydn Bach

Henry Lahee was a 19th-century music historian and writer known for his references on and biographical sketches of famous musicians. One of his best works was his 'Famous Violinists of Today and Yesterday' – a treatise recounting the music, lives, and careers of famous violinists.

In this work, Lahee covers numerous violinists but none more important than Niccolo Paganini. Even today, Paganini is considered to be one of, if not the most important violinists ever to play. His virtuosity, incredible composition, and concert performances placed him at the top of the musical world in the 19th-century.

Other notable composers and musicians featured in this work include Antonio Vivaldi, Arcangelo Corelli, J.S. Bach, Handel, Mozart, and Haydn.
