First edition; folio; [20], 871, [17]pp. In early full leather, respined in twentieth century over five raised spine bands between double gilt fillets with gilt lettered red leather spine label to second compartment, gilt date to foot of spine and double gilt fillets to head and foot of spine (binding lightly worn with minor loss of leather to board corners, spine uniformly faded). Engraved heraldic ownership label to front pastedown (Whalley Hamerton), three neat early ink ownership names to first three leaves, very occasional unobtrusive spots, stains and feint paper browning, lacks portrait frontispiece but with extra engraved title-page engraved by T. Cecil, 18 woodcut illustrations and scarce original closing index all present. Already in his fifties Weever embarked upon his project to comprehensively describe the significant tombs and memorials of the United Kingdom, covering much of South East England before he passed away.
