This copy was the property of the Hon. Emery Washburn, former Governor of Massachusetts and noted professor of Law at Harvard. Emory Washburn (1800-1877) served as Governor of Massachusetts, 1854-1855, and wrote a number of legal treatises. He was instrumental in the founding of Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
