Originally published in England in 1938, Anthem "published at last" in America was, according to the advertising brochure from Pamphlteers, "too daring for 1937". This is the First issue of the First American edition, (preceded by the original Cassell printing, 1938), published as Vol lll, No. 1 of "The Freeman Magazine" in a single printing of only 2,000 copies in stiff gray paper covers.
