London and Wellington, New Zealand: Oxford University Press, Per Geoffrey Cumberlege, 1956. xxxii, + 341pp. Book clean and square. Bright, but chipped gilt title over lightly bumped spine. Plain, original blue cloth boards nominally bumped on upper foredge corners, else undamaged. A former owner's name and date on ffep., minor random flecks, else textblock good. Printed dustjacket edgeworn, with jagged nips and tears, flecked and marked on rear (text) panel. This anthology of 275 selections from almost fifty poets reflects the development of New Zealand poetry from its beginnings in the mid 1800s. The greater part of this volume consists of works published in the 1920s and '30s, but includes earlier poets such as Alfred Domett, Jessie Mackay, William Pember Reeves and Herbert Church. Contents include: Prelims., Introduction, The Poets and their Works, Sources of the Poems, Bibliography, Index of Authors, Index of Titles and First Lines. Book weight approx. 480g. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Thus.. Hardcover and Dustjacket. Good +/Good.
