New York: Farrar and Rinehart, 1934. Two volumes, continuously paginated. 1224 pages plus preliminaries. Original publisher's green cloth stamped in gold. [24 cm.] Spine of vol. I tanned, else very good. Spine of vol. II a bit sun faded; slight offsetting to titles; small, light spot to fore-edge of first volume, not affecting surface of leaves. Front hinge of vol. I a little weak, but holding well and all other hinges sound. FIRST OF THIS ILLUSTRATED EDITION, with color frontispiece in each volume and color endpapers by N.C. Wyeth. Titles and chapter titles with drawings by Allan McNab. This set with a PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, on a special leaf tipped-in before the half-title in vol. I. It reads: "Inscribed for Beth Lowell with best wishes to any of her name. Hervey Allen." Beth Lowell was Amy Lowell's niece.
