London: Hamlyn, 1973, 1973 (Franklin 4830) 96 pp, over 90 illust with 32 in color, glossary, bibliography, 80 maker marks. The book is organized into various periods: Late Stuart Silver; Queen Anne Silver; The Rococo; Adam Silver, Regency Silver, Early Victorian Silver, 1851 and After. The aim of the authors is to encourage the collector to rely upon his own judgment by emphasizing good taste and good design, and how these evolved alongside the bad, and by noting the importance of individual silversmiths and firms and their relative merits. While early chapters deal with 18th century English and American silver, a larger part of the book is devoted to 19th century silver, so long underrated and now growing in popularity. NF/NF. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Dust Jacket Included.
