This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine, edges and corner of the cover. There is some dog-earring on the right corner pages of the book. The pages are white, crisp and clear of any markings. "This is a history of the visual arts produced in the geographical area that now constitutes the United States. Such a book is difficult to title. A History of United States Art sounds awkward and logically might even be construed to exclude the arts of the colonial period. This book is in good condition. There is a lot of wear on the front, back, spine and edges of the cover boards. There is also a substantial amount of staining on the cover boards. The pages are yellowed and tanned. There are also markings throughout the book. "The roots of this book reach back to the early 1950s in Paris, where I began my professional career as a journalist. Has small bookworm hole affecting the upper right corner of pages 23- 83, completely out of the way of any text and only about 1/2 inch in depth. Missing page corner as depicted, affecting the first front illustration page, affects a small amount of caption text, and the edges of 2 photos. This book is an antique and is in fair condition. The binding is loose and cracked on the inside of the front board. Dark green cloth covered boards that have significant wear on the edges, spine and corners. The previous owners signature is written on the inside of the front board. The pages are tanned and yellowed, but are still readable.Also a Life Sketch of Theodore Roosevelt and "memorial tributes by statesmen, ministers, orators and rulers of all countries"; profusely illustrated with photos, drawings and "special pictures of the Family by Express Permission from the Owners"
