About This Item

New York: Macmillan Company, 1971. First Edition. Slim oblong quarto (24.5x27cm.); publisher's cloth-backed boards in pictorial dust jacket; unpaginated; color illus. throughout. A few short closed tears to jacket extremities, two small losses at top edge of rear panel, front panel a bit wrinkled; still, a Very Good copy, internally fine. Children's picture book set in a tenement where two brothers make friends with a reclusive harmonica-playing neighbor.

Synopsis

In his apartment in the city, Sam hears voices, barking dogs, snoring, and all kinds of other noises. One rainy day he also hears the sad sounds of a harmonica, and wonders who's playing. Sam's search leads him to Apt. 3, where he finds not only the source of the music--but a new friend.
