New York: The Architectural Book Publishing Co Binding is tight, text clean. Small stamped previous owner name on front free page. No other markings in either volume. Some staining to covers. Cover tips and top and bottom spine fraying. Green cloth with gold titles on spine and gold embossed decoration on front covers. Vol. 1 Condition-Good; Vol. 2 Condition-Very good. Vol. 1 front hinge cracked and 1-2" tears cloth binding at top and bottom front spine edge. Some staining and foxing to page edges of Vol. 1. Vols. are undated however Vol. 1, in pencil is written: Bakewell & Brown 4/21/24. The firm of Bakewell & Brown was founded in 1905 by John Bakewell, Jr. (1872-1963) and Arthur Brown, Jr. (1874-1957). The prominent San Francisco firm designed buildings throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including numerous buildings for Stanford University. Bakewell & Brown won the competition for the design of the San Francisco City Hall, which was built in 1915. They also designed the Berkeley Unified School District Building (formerly Berkeley City Hall), and the Pasadena City Hall. San Francisco buildings include the San Francisco Art Institute (1926), the City of Paris building reconstruction (1908, with Louis Bourgeois), the War Memorial Opera House and Veterans Building (1931, with G. Albert Lansburgh), and the PG&E Building (1925).. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall.

Folio, 16.25 x 12.25 inches, publisher's dark green cloth gilt, very good, light wear to binding (tiny nick to center of spine, lightest wear to top edge of front board), previous owner's namestamp 3x to front endpapers, 2x to rear, once to title page (Casimir Pelligrini, 1928-2021, a well known Pittsburgh architect), text thankfully free of stamps. 184 pp, a mix of specs, line drawings and photoplates. Postage EXTRA for this large heavy book.
