Very good. 28 pages in text. 32 x 25 cm. Twelve full-page lithographed plates with descriptive text -- "designs for a summer house and gardener's residence, a garden cottage, a gate lodge. a dairy and gamekeepers residence....a small residence, an orangery and garden seat, a small villa and casino. One of the largest designs is the casino adapted for the residence of a gentlemen." [see: ARCHER 153.1]. Further, Archer notes Hunt hoped that Italian roof tiles might be brought into general use as they are light and economical, most beautiful in form and secure as a covering . COLVIN, p439. "Hunt was well thought of both at the Office of Works and in Court circles.....an able architect who made a special study of the picturesque Tudor style." Index and 16 pages of publisher adverts. Generally clean, a few plates toned, mostly marginal, partly unopened. From the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Gift of Lincoln Kirstein bookplate -- the only ex-library mark, wear to corners.
