About This Item

Sauk City, Wisconsin: Sauk City, WI: Arkham House ( AH ), 1941, 1st Edition, First Printing (actually a 2nd Printing ---OFFSET Edition Circa 1963 ), 1941. ----------hardcover, a Near Fine example, in a Very Good+ to Near Fine dustjacket, a wee bit of light rubbing to rear panel, a bit of age toning to the edges of the jacket, --this measures just over 4.5h inches x 7.25h inches, red and white headbands, initially claimed by derleth as having been "discovered" by a friend suddenly about 1960-3 300 as new copies became available which Derleth supposedly purchased en masse, however an invoice from a UK printer was discovered in the ARKHAM HOUSE archives which showed that Derleth actually ordered 300 copies as an offset edition (sneaky bugger), at the least this is a 2nd printing (certainly a 2nd print run ) or a 2nd edition (being made slightly taller and wider and with slightly bulkier text block), this offset edition is really quite scarce especially in nice condition ---an essential part of any AH collection , --this contains: When the Night and House Are Still essay by August Derleth; Glory Hand; Compliments of Spectro; A Gift for Uncle Herman; McGovern's Obsession; Three Gentlemen in Black; Muggridge's Aunt; Bramwell's Guardian; Joliper's Gift; Altimer's Amulet; The Shuttered House; The Sheraton Mirror; The Wind from the River; The Telephone in the Library; The Panelled Room; The Return of Hastur; The Sandwin Compact, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo ///NOT SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE///. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine (see desciption)/Near Fine (see description). Illus. by Frank Utpatel Cover Art. 4.5w x 7h Inches. NOT Price Clipped.
