About This Item

New York: Random House, 1986. Brand New in a Brand New dust jacket. Perfect condition. NO chips. NO tears. NO creases. NO fading. NOT price clipped ($12.95). Bright, shiny, clean, square and tight. Sharp corners. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a remainder. Pages are fresh, crisp and unmarked -- obviously never read. Beautifully illustrated by Holly Hobbie with full wraparound dust jacket art and 100 color plates. First collected edition of Hobbie's art. First printing with "First Edition" so stated and complete number row (24689753) left justified on the copyright page [Random House did not use the "1" in 1986 -- see McBride's GUIDE TO THE IDENTIFICATION OF FIRST EDITIONS]. Bound in the original green boards, stamped in shiny gold. From the dust jacket: "In this book, through a personal selection of her paintings, she affectionately chronicles the life of her growing family as it has been reflected over the years in her work. The images and anecdotes of her three children growing up, often funny and endearing, tell a universal story. At the same time we are given a privileged view of a young woman's gradual development as an artist. She talks about her early unexpected success, the sources of her art, her methods and aspirations. And here for the first time… her more recent pictures (presented in the later pages of this book) reveal her increasing virtuosity as a watercolorist.". First Printing of the First Edition. Hardcover. New/New. Illus. by Hobbie, Holly. Unpaged (but 127pp). Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
