Also, a chronology by Schimmel, 72 artists' biographies, 10-page bibliography, and lengthy index. A terrific book. Catalogue from the traveling exhibition shown in Washington, Cincinnati, Houston, and Denver, between March 1986 and April 1987. Published to accompany an exhibition held in Washington, DC: National Museum of American Art, Mar. 7 to June 15, 1986, three other locations.
