Arthur Rackham Book – A Midsummer Night’s Dream First Edition Book 1908 in Custom Box

by William Shakespeare

London: William Heinemann, 1908. The First Edition has for sale this collectable Arthur Rackham book of the William Shakespeare book, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, beautifully illustrated with 40 colour tipped-in plates and additional line drawings by Arthur Rackham, this being the first edition book from 1908 published by William Heinemann. This stunning example comes with a modern custom made box.____The original tan cloth has gilt stamping and is in Very Good condition with marks to the front and back boards and with discolouration to the spine; and some professional re-stitching. Despite the faults the boards are structurally sound and still very attractive.____There are 132 numbered pages which are in overall Very Good condition with spotting to the blank endpapers as well as occasional spotting throughout the book; inscriptions to the blank front free endpaper; a small retailer’s label to the front free endpaper; and a small closed tear to the bottom of page 103 in the margin and not affecting the text.____All plates are in Fine condition except two corner creases to two plates which are barely noticeable when viewed.____This stunning example of Arthur Rackham’s book A Midsummer Night’s Dream is housed in a modern black case with a black label and gilt lettering to the spine which reads: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream William Shakespeare Arthur Rackham 1908”____This is a delightful early Arthur Rackham first edition book, published just two years after Rackham’s illustrated editions of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens and just the year after Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This is one of Arthur Rackham’s most collectable books on the market today.. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Arthur Rackham. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

New York: Assouline, December 2021. Hardcover. Pictorial linen over boards in a thick luxury slipcase. As New book in an As New slipcase. Pristine inside and out. 304 pages, 280 color illustrations. 12.3 x 10.6 x 2.3 inches. 6.8 pounds. Heavy item: extra charges for expedited or international shipping. Lavishly illustrated coffee-table book that accompanies Jane Campion's film The Power of the Dog. This book offers an in-depth look at the making of the movie, including film stills, set photography and quotes from the cast and filmmakers. Every aspect of production and post-production is explored, from acquiring the book rights to writing the screenplay, from casting to finessing the score.
