Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1932 Two hardbacked volumes, each vol 9" x 12" tall approx, with a total of 636pp, with 218 text illustrations in b/w and line, + 153 plates. Only 250 sets of this, the first & superior edition, were published and therefore seldom come onto the market. Some leaves unopened. Original gilt decorated white buckram-covered boards slightly dusty. Internally very good. With, loosely inserted, a copy of a letter from Charles Batey, Printer to the University, confirming that only 250 sets were ever produced. First Edition. Hard Cover.
