About This Item

Matthaei Wagner, Ulmae (Ulm): ., 1678 pp. [4], 150. 24 mo. 135 mm. Worn and age stained. Last leaves with very slight loss. Disbound. Elias Veiel (1635-1706) was a Lutheran theologian in Ulm, Germany. Educated at the University of Strasbourg, where he earned a master's degree, he then studied Protestant theology at the universities of Heidelberg, Leipzig; Wittenberg and Jena. In 1662, he became chaplain at the Ulm Mnster and a Professor of theology at the local high school, and later was promoted to be director of the school and the town librarian. Veiel published a number of Exegetical, historical theological and dogmatic writings mostly in Latin, but also sermon volumes and a representation of the Protestant faith, skimmed from Martin Luther's writings. Although he was a friend for over three decades with Philipp Jakob Spener - he was critical of Pietism and Anabaptism. This rare little book was apparently issued after a dispution with Veielio and Johann Philipp Cellar (Keller) (1709-1766). SCARCE. **PRICE JUST REDUCED! NW1 / SMALL Box 4. No Binding. Fair.
