About This Item

London: Charles H. Kelly, 1890. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. London, Charles H. Kelly, 1890. Octavo, viii, 446 pages plus 3 mounted portraits (Woodburytypes, produced photomechanically), 3 engraved portraits and 16 views (mainly Australian); an errata slip is tipped in on the recto of the frontispiece. Gilt-decorated cloth lightly rubbed, flecked and bumped (with a short closed split to the front top corner tip); uncut top edge a little dusty, leading edge slightly marked; slight imperfections to a few top margins, where uncut sections have been opened carelessly; small spot-stain to five consecutive leaves, impacting very slightly on one of the Woodburytypes; trifling signs of use and age; overall, an excellent copy. The Woodburytypes are of James Bickford, his wife, and fellow-missionary the Reverend William Moister (1808-1891).
