About This Item

Lebanon, Connecticut, 1778. Softcover. Very Good. Laid paper with watermark. Approximately 7.75" x 12.25". Old folds, small tears, light dampstain at folds, very good. Docketed by Trumbull on the verso as "Copy Circular to Massachusetts Bay, New Hampshire,& Governor Greene." A cover letter sent by Trumbull to accompany "A resolve of the Governor and Council of Safety of the State of Connecticut passed the 9th Instant relative to Couriers employed agreably to a Resolve of a Committee od the States of Massachusetts-Bay, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, convened at Providence on the 25 day of December 1776." Trumbull served as Royal Governor of Connecticut and was the only Royal Governor to support the rebelling Colonies. He remained as Governor for the entirety of the Revolution.
