Osborne, Saturday, undated [c.1855]. In French. 2 pp. 7½ x 4½ inches, with the original address panel [By Messenger] pasted on verso of the integral blank leaf, addressed to Madame Rollande de la Sange, Buckingham Palace, signed lower left Princess Ro. Royal mail, privately carried by Messenger between Osborne and Buckingham Palace. Victoria, Princess Royal (1840 1901) was the eldest child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. She was created Princess Royal of the United Kingdom in 1841. She became German Empress and Queen of Prussia by marriage to German Emperor Frederick III. After her husband's death, she was known as Empress Frederick.
