Whjte Lodge, Richmond Park, 19 April 1891. 2 pp. 7 x 4½ inches, in good condition, with the original franked envelope. Alexander George of Teck, Earl of Athlone (14 April 1874-1957). He was Governor-General of the Union of South Africa (1923-1931) and Governor-General of the Dominion of Canada (1940-46). When Prince Alexander was nine years old, his parents for two years fled the United Kingdom for continental Europe to escape their high debts; but the Prince remained at Eton College before moving on to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst.
