Orchard Place, Blackwall, 14 July 1853. 2 pp. 9 x 7½ inches, a few creases, in good condition. Joseph DAguilar Samuda (1813-1885), Jewish engineer and shipbuilder, politician. Samuda Brothers built iron steamships for both the Royal Navy and the merchant navy, and for the passenger and mail services of England and other countries, besides royal yachts and river boats. In 1860 he helped to establish the Institution of Naval Architects.
