18 Henrietta Street, Bath, 5 January 1816. 2 pp. 9 x 7 inches, minor defects only, with the address leaf. Uncommon. Lieutenant-General Thomas Joseph Backhouse (Manila 1764 - 1821) served in the American War (1780) and the West Indies, He saw distinguished service in the Montevideo Campaign (1806-07). He later commanded the garrison at Bombay.
