Paris, 1887. Ink on laid paper, 10 lines, with integral blank. 8vo. Toned, else fine. Ink on laid paper, 10 lines, with integral blank. 8vo. The elegant hand of the great French Parnassian poet and classicist, Charles Leconte de Lisle (1818-1894), elected to the Académie française in 1886, to Victor Hugo's seat.

He writes, in part "Si vous voulez avoir l'obligeance de passer, lunci prochain, vers deux heures, à la Bibliothèque du Sénat, au Palais du Luxemborug, vous m'y trouverez certainement ..." and signs with a bold flourish

In a set of the collected poems, comprising: Poèmes Barbares, Poèmes Antiques, Poèmes Tragiques, and Derniers Poems (1895), uniformly bound in quarter red morocco and marbled boards, t.e.g. (Slightly rubbed; memorial label on pastedown, cancelled, shelfmarks on verso of flyleaves, otherwise unmarked).
