About This Item
Presbyterian clergyman who was cited for heresy in 1874 and became more popular thereafter. ANS, 1p, 5" X 6", Chicago, IL, 1884 May 19. Addressed to Mr. Mason. Very good. Mild age toning. On odd lined stationery imprinted with his 403 Superior Street address, Swing notes "with a sad kind of interest the letter from Bateman. It is to be regretted that such a thoughtful scholar was called so soon from our country and his friends...." Intriguing and cryptic. Bold and attractive.
