Oxford University Press: NY, 1948. First American Edition, First Pr. Hardcover. Very good minus/Without dust jacket. The actual first edition of this title was probably published the same year by Henry Z. Walck: NY. We do not understand why it was issued by two NY publishers at the same time. Octavo, 8 1/4" tall, 54 pages, beige boards. A very good minus, generally clean, hard cover edition with minor shelf wear but with some exterior surface soiling on the front cover, and spine color faded from lack of dust jacket; gently read, binding solid but some cracking between signatures, paper lightly yellowed with a hint of foxing and a previous owner's name penciled on the front endpaper. Without dust jacket.
