Harcourt, Brace & Co., 1922; no additional printings indicated, first issue of first edition with "Purdy" for "Lyte" & "my fellow human" errors on pg. 49 (Pastore, 8); 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" card bearing Sinclair Lewis' signature, dated Aug. 1, 1924, laid-in. Binding is tight, sturdy, and square; very minor wear to edges of boards, orange titling on spine and front board remains bold; text also very good. Dust jacket is worn with several small closed tears, chipping over head and heel of spine; jacket arrives wrapped in protective mylar. More photos available upon request. Ships from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Synopsis

Babbitt , by Sinclair Lewis, was first published in 1922. This novel is a satire of American culture.  It critiques society and the socially-acceptable behavior of middle-class American life and its pressure on individuals toward conformity.
