This is MacDonald's first long fairy story published in book form.  Illustrations by Arthur Hughes. London: Strahan & Co, 1871.  Rebound in green cloth with gold text on the spine.  378 pp. with 13 pages of advertisements in the back.  Shaberman 43. The exterior is fine because the book has recently been rebound.  The text is VG due to pencil writing on the title page and several leaves being reinforced. Full refund if not satisfied.

Synopsis

At the Back of the North Wind is a children's book by George MacDonald. It was serialized in the children's magazine Good Words for the Young beginning in 1868 and was published in book form in 1871. It is a fantasy centered around a boy named Diamond and his adventures with the North Wind. Diamond travels together with the mysterious Lady North Wind through the nights.
