Secker & Warburg. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 1st English edition. Without dust jacket, minimal wear to boards, slight darkening to spine with blue titles. No inscription or markings free from foxing very clean and tight throughout. Gide was a strong supporter of the Soviet Union, here are a collection of short essays and speeches that he gave during the 1930's both praising the achievements of the Soviet Union but also recognising its failings and offering constructive criticism.
