Provenance: Edgar Conkling (1812-1881), financier from Cincinnati, presentation inscription on front free endpaper to "His Namesake C. Edgar Kinne of Ovid, Seneca Co. New York. May 8 1863. Remember that Abraham Lincoln was once a poor boy, yet became President. That most of our great men became so by 'eternal vigilance,' by system, by diercedness of purpose, anchored in God.
