The author recounts 5 years of his life during World "ar 2 where he left the financial industry in the UK and helped set up and run the SOE (Special Operations Executive) the organisation that supported resistance movements and put spies into occupied Europe, The book is clean and sound, apart from a previous owner's bookplate inside the front board, but the dust wrapper is worn, torn, with some small areas of loss and is price clipped. Sweet-Escott served in the headquarters of Balkan section alongside Nixon and Taylor. Major Ronald Prentice (1913-1980) served in Greece with SOE Force 133 during 1943 and Noah's Ark in 1944, and subsequently with the Parachute Regiment from 1946. Working under Geoff Hammond, he and Arthur Wickstead formed an effective team, organising and conducting the sabotage of German forces, and co-ordinating several Greek resistance movements.
