It includes more than 50 illustrations by the author, as well as famous illustrators George Cruikshank (of Dickens fame) and John Leech. Also included is a frontis plate portrait of the author, with tissue guard. This handsome volume also includes a biographical introduction by Anne Ritchie, Thackeray's daughter. The book is in Very Good condition and is bound in blue illustrated covers with repetitive floral designs and letter "T's" in dark blue surrounded by a dark blue border on both front and rear panels. The titles are in a die-stamped gilt on the spine. The book also features top-edge gilt and has rough-cut pages. The spine tips and corners show light rubbing, and there are some scuff marks on the front panel. The binding is tight and secure. The text pages are clean and bright throughout.
