Boston.: M. M. Ballou.. 1855.. Five issues of the illustrated newspaper; 15 1/4 x 11 1/2 inches; 16 pp; never bound in a volume; chipping to spine and light abrasion along free edge of most issues. Horizontal fold to each issue. One issue staple bound; one issue with sewn string binding. Most issues have ink stamp of a San Francisco news dealer at top or elsewhere on front page. Covers in fair condition, interiors fair to good: see below. February 3 issue: Sleighing Scene on cover; also a large view of State Street Boston (1855). March 10 issue: Four views on two pages of an American Packet Ship making the Liverpool to Boston crossing (soiling to first page; abraded free edge and one inch tear at centerfold to one page featuring two packet ship views). March 24 issue: Half page view of the city of Charleston and a two page spread featuring 10 views to illustrate the article "Scenery in Western Massachusetts." (1 ¼ inch tear at free edge where newspaper was folded.) April 21 issue: Large view depicting "New York in 1855." Smaller (1/3 page) "View of Burlington, Iowa" and two views on one page illustrating "Loading Cotton on the Alabama River." June 30 1855 issue: Front page view depicting "Beacon Street, Boston," and two page spread featuring six views of Pawtucket, Rhode Island An interesting collection of Ballou's from 1855 with condition issues noted. .
