About This Item

UK,8vo HB,minus dw/dj,1st edn.[Unusually, the dw/dj appears to have been cropped of it's inner flaps and pasted direct to boards - which are assumed to be card rather than cloth - why else paste dw/dj to them? NOT an ex-public library example - NO alpha-numerical notiications or indications of such anywhere in the book.] VG.No owner inscrptn,dw/dj laminated to boards as protection.Bright, crisp, clean, glossy laminated, generally sharp-cornered,paper-covered boards with colour pictorial non-credited artwork illustrated front board+spine with red+white lettering to front; red,white+b/w lettering to spine, rear with 6 black-lettered titles of other books in the series to a white background; with negligible shelf- wear or creasing to edges and corners - no nicks or tears present. Both boards with several horizontal wrinkling creases of laminate.Top+fore-edges both with light toning and sporadic foxing/ spotting; contents though, generally bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - with some minimal, sporadic foxing/spotting to first few pages of the first and last signatures of the book, signatures in between much less affected - if at all - no intentional dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners, else appears unread - apart from my own collation.UK, slim,12mo HB,1st edn,9-127pp [paginated] includes X (10) chapters, several (10,excluding full-page frntis) part-page b/w illustrations by N. Dear throughout the text and the book, plus [unpaginated] half-title with b/w line illustrated frntis to recto, title page, sporadically foxed separate contents+ illustrations lists/tables and to verso of last paginated page,a publisher's advert for the other 6 prior titles by these collaborators which completes the whole series of seven, despite publisher's promise of 'Watch for the next case of the world-famous air-detective team, packed with the latet air information - and thrills galore!' - which never materialised. [The technical details offered by T.E. Scott-Chard,a BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) research officer.] The 7th and last adventure for this fictional hero.Hunter Hawk was a wartime fighter pilot who founded his detective agency - Skyways Investigation Limited - upon his demob from the service and return to Civvy Street. He debuted in 1957 with 'Outlaws of the Air'. BOAC was the British state-owned airline created in 1940 by the merger of Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd.It continued it's operating overseas services throughout WW2.After the passing of the Civil Aviation Act of 1946,European and South American services passed to two further state- owned airlines,British European Airways (BEA) and British South American Airways (BSAA).BOAC absorbed BSAA in 1949,but BEA continued to operate British domestic and European routes for the next quarter century.A 1971 Act of Parliament merged BOAC and BEA with effect from 31 March 1974,forming today's British Airways.
