About This Item
Lowden Publishing, Kilmore, Melbourne 1978 hardcover, 6" x 9", with dust jacket Small white-out on ffep (previous owner's name?). VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket. The iron barque 'Polly Woodside (Rona)' was launched in Belfast in 1885 and became engaged in the UK-South American trade. In 1904 she was bought by New Zealand interests and traded throughout the Pacific. After two mishaps she was sold to Australian interests, had her masts cut down, and worked on the Melbourne waterfront as a coal lighter. Today she is fully restored and graces the Yarra River (permanently moored) at Melbourne. 70 b&w photographs.
