The Battle of London by Hugh Addison (pen name used by Harry Owen) published by Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1923-24 estimated date of publication. HC.

Very hard to find book.

Undated but estimated publication 1923-24, hardback, 312 numbered pages + 8 pages of advertisements for other books. Written under the pen name of 'Hugh Addison', the true author is Harry Collinson Owen (1882 –1956), a British Army War correspondent in WWI. Which experience may well have informed this 'precept and a warning' re a British Bolshevik revolution, in which, as the preliminary blurb rightly warns, 'The story cuts down to the heart of the subject, and nothing is spared' - including prisoners. The story concerns England of the - then - near future subject to invasion from abroad + subversion from within, and the sanguine measures necessary for patriots to restore order.

Boards intact and lightly soiled and lightly bumped on the boards with no marks internally, but the first few pages show marked age wear. No tears. Spine is solid.
