Belfast: The Paper, 1887. This is a facsimile published as a supplement to the Belfast News Letter of the 1st September, 1887. The paper clean and unfoxed, corner-creased, with substantial tears in from both sides one third and two thirds down, but with text entire - a minor project for a paper materials restorer. I was intrigued as to why the newspaper would publish such a supplement, until I found out on a search that this is the earliest issue of the paper known to exist, and was thus reprinted as an 150th anniversary commemoration. The News Letter claims to be the oldest newspaper in the English-speaking world, which it is, if continuity of title is an issue. Some in Worcester might wish to differ.. Soft Cover. Fair/No Jacket.
