[America. c.1910s-1920s]. Retail counter advertising display piece. 7¾ x 12 inches. Offset color lithography. Medium cardboard die-cut panel with heavy cardboard die-cut folding stand mounted on the verso. Brief handling; one corner bumped; very good with bright coloring.

C.1910s-1920s counter top display advertisement piece for Baker's Pure Extract Vanilla and Baker's Color Paste for baking. The products were made and sold by the Baker Extract Co. of Springfield, Massachusetts and Portland, Maine. This point-of-sale ad or sign shows a three-color coconut layer-cake-suggesting the possibilities of baking with the company's products-as well as actual images of these baking products' retail packaging. A good object lesson in marketing to a mass consumer base with alluring graphics and product branding. Bright and colorful.
