Author inscribed, with typed, signed letter from Albert Beveridge laid in. Dark blue-black cloth over boards, gilt fasces on front cover, gilt letters on spine. Bright, clean covers and spine; very slight rubbing at fore corners; tightly bound; slight age darkening at page edges; inscription on front free end paper 'To | Gustave L. Gnael (?) | with best wishes | sincerely | Claude Bowers.'; clean interior. DJ is complete, but split in 2 pieces at rear cover/spine hinge, and has chips and small tears along edges; now in protective mylar. Laid in letter on U.S. Senate letterhead reads 'May 9, 1908. | My Dear Mr. Keller: | I have your pleasant letter of the 7th, | and regret to say that to date no tickets for the | Republican National Convention have been placed at my | disposal. Should I receive tickets later on, I shall | be very glad indeed to send you one. | Sincerely yours, | [sgd] Albert J. Beveridge | Mr. Louis J.
