Dust jacket has major shelf wear with closed tears along the edges, some scuffing, and open tears on the spine, and on the top front edge. Boards have minor shelf wear and some scuffing. Text block has foxing along the exterior edges, some minor staining from the front paste down to the half title page. NOTE: Shelved in Room A. 1372780. Special Collections.

Signed on the front free endpaper by Bill Broonzy. This is the true First Edition (Cassell) in dustwrapper, containing also a photocopy of some extra material entitled "THIS IS WHAT MR HERBERT WILCOX DON TO BIG BILL Janury 24 1953." Clean dark brown boards, slightly faded at edges, interior generally Very Good; faults are a little light foxing, a few light spots and smudges, smudges on one spread (pp 64-5 - see photo). The book is hardback, binding solid and secure. Dustwrapper is chipped with small loss, and its interior is sparsely consolidated with tiny amounts of archival tape.
