Czech Africa, p. 110 (for the first edition): "An essential title in the African big-game library ... describing the hunting regions of the continent with attendant analysis of game animals and hunting methods ... a wealth of information with exciting hunting experiences throughout." Just about the only good book we have found on hunting the Walia ibex and with some hunting also for the elusive Mountain nyala. This is Maydon's rarest book. Good reading - an African mountain game hunting book. Original gilt cloth. Lightly bumped corners and tiny separation just starting in rear spine gutter (really small, we almost missed it).

Good reading - an African mountain game hunting book. The tiniest bit of foxing on edge of text block, otherwise a l lovely near fine copy finely bound in half leather over marbled boards, raised spine bands, gilt rules in bands. Scarce in such nice condition.

The Field. London (1933).. Four square corners, eps spotted, very bright boards, spine a little handled, overall a VG copy. Split rear joint has been professionally repaired. All illustrations present, excellent contents. An attractive, sound, and clean copy.. Tan cloth boards with gilt and black device to front board. 376pp, illustrted with over 75 plates. Errata slip. 1.7kg 4to. Inscribed "With the Author's Compliments" to half-title page (but not so signed). Formerly a Native Commissioner in North-East Rhodesia the Author made both a land and a boat tour around the lake and gives an account of these travels with his experiences of hunting and native life. A very detailed and informative text of life in the colonial Africa of those days.
