Paris: Librairie d'Amyot, 1845. SCARCE biography of King Francis I of France (1494-1547, who ruled 1515 until his death in 1547). Four volumes bound in contemporary midnight polished calf, gilt rules and decorations, rules in blind, marbled end papers and edges, silk markers, Vol. I with the stamp of Simier R. du Roi front end page and in gilt at tail , that of René Simier (1772-1843), one of the best French binders of the nineteenth century and binder to the King. Near Fine, widely scattered toning, boards lightly rubbed, a quite distinguished set. A heavy set, please be advised added shipping charges will be requested for international orders. . First Edition. Polished Calf. Near Fine/No Jacket, As Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
